PUEBLO Leather - Badalassi Carlo, Italy

I'll always reserve a special corner of my heart for Pueblo. It was the first 'true' veg-tan leather on my table when I dove head-first into the art of leather crafting. The delicious colors remain a staple and have never failed me on any project. Let me introduce you!

PUEBLO & THE TANNERY

Pueblo leather is made by the prestigious Badalassi Carlo tannery in Tuscany, Italy, and is recognized for its superior, vegetable-tanned leathers. Their focus on small-batch production ensures each hide is of the highest quality. The tannery honors traditional craftsmanship, combining centuries-old techniques with a deep respect for the environment.

Badalassi Carlo vegetable-tanned leather relies on tannins from plant matter like tree bark, leaves, and some fruits rather than toxic chemicals. This sustainable approach makes it safer for workers and the environment.

Badalassi Carlo prioritizes long-lasting quality, minimizing the need for frequent replacements and reducing waste. Items crafted from their tanned leathers are known to endure for years or even decades, offering a sustainable alternative to fast fashion trends that promote disposability. Vegetable tanning leads to biodegradable leather, allowing products to decompose and reduce landfill waste naturally.

CHARACTERISTICS

• Finish: Matte, textured surface with a hand-buffed, slightly rustic aesthetic.

• Temper: Medium-firm, providing structure while remaining flexible for use in smaller goods, whether for minimal designs or intricate projects.

• Weight:. Options: 3-4 oz (1.2-1.6mm), ideal for wallets, up to 5-6 oz (2-2.4mm), great for bags and sturdy items.

Pueblo’s signature finish ensures each piece has a natural, handcrafted appearance while retaining the durability and feel of premium leather.

USES

Pueblo leather is versatile and perfect for:

• Wallets, card holders, pencil cases, and journal covers

• Bags and clutches

• Small accessories (key holders, coin pouches)

• Watch straps

PATINA

Over time, Pueblo transforms into a richer, smoother version of itself. Expect vibrant highlights and deep, earthy tones to emerge, showcasing the natural aging process of high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather. Only veg-tan leather will develop a patina over time, taking on a deep, lustrous finish that reflects its use and care.

Patina Timeline: Subtle within weeks, significant changes in 6–12 months.

CARE

• Use a soft, dry cloth to clean regularly.

• Condition occasionally with a neutral leather balm or oil to maintain softness and luster.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to water or direct sunlight.

Pueblo is low-maintenance and naturally resists scratches due to its textured surface.

WHY CHOOSE PUEBLO?

Pueblo is an excellent choice for anyone seeking leather products with a perfect blend of character and refinement. Its hand-buffed texture and ability to develop a stunning patina make it stand out. Durable yet visually captivating, Pueblo tells a story over time, making it perfect for crafting unique pieces.
